Privacy Policy

Zenlix ("we", "our", or "the app") is a focus and digital-wellbeing application that helps you block distracting apps, set smart rules, and manage screen time. This Privacy Policy explains what information Zenlix accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Zenlix, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Summary (the short version)

• Most of your data stays on your device. Your focus stats, blocked-app lists, and rules are stored locally on your phone.
• We do not sell your data. Ever.
• We do not track your browsing or show ads.
• Cloud sync is optional and only happens if you choose to sign in with Google for parental controls.
• Zenlix uses the Android Accessibility Service only to block the apps you select — it does not collect, read, or transmit the content of your screen.

2. Information We Access and Store

2.1 Stored only on your device (not sent to us)

The following is saved locally on your phone and is not transmitted to our servers:

• Focus session history and statistics (focus time, completed sessions)
• The list of apps you choose to block
• Your smart rules (schedule, daily usage limit, and location rules)
• Your parental-control PIN, stored in a hashed and salted form (we never store your PIN in plain text)
• App-open/block counts used to display your stats

2.2 Information stored in the cloud (only if you sign in)

If you choose to sign in with Google to enable parental controls, we store the following in our secure cloud database (Google Firebase):

• Your Google account email address and a unique user ID
• Your parental-control settings, including the hashed PIN and recovery values (never plain text) and whether protection is enabled
• Timestamps of when these settings were created or updated

If you do not sign in, no data is sent to the cloud and the app works fully in local-only mode.

2.3 Information we do not collect

• We do not collect the content of your screen, messages, or any app you use.
• We do not collect your contacts, photos, files, or browsing history.
• We do not sell or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

3. Permissions and Why We Use Them

Permission	Why Zenlix needs it
Accessibility Service	To detect when a blocked app is opened and prevent access during a focus session or active rule. This is the only way Android allows real-time app blocking. We use it solely for blocking the apps you select — we do not read or store screen content.
Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS)	To measure how long apps are used so daily usage-limit rules can work.
Location (incl. background)	Only used if you create a location rule, to detect when you enter or leave a chosen place and block apps there. Location is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers or shared.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)	To show focus reminders, session start/end alerts, and break notifications.
Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED)	To restore active blocking rules after your phone restarts.
Vibrate / Full-screen intent	To deliver timely focus and break alerts.

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device Settings. Disabling a permission will turn off the related feature.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information described above only to:

• Provide focus sessions and block the apps you select
• Apply your schedule, usage-limit, and location rules
• Show you your focus and usage statistics
• Protect settings with a parental-control PIN
• Sync and recover parental-control settings if you sign in

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or resale.

5. Third-Party Services

• Google Firebase (Authentication & Cloud Firestore) — used only for optional Google sign-in and cloud storage of parental-control settings.
• Google Sign-In — used only if you choose to sign in.

These services are operated by Google and are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We only send the minimal data described in Section 2.2.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

• Local data remains on your device until you delete it in the app or uninstall Zenlix.
• Cloud data (if you signed in) is retained until you request deletion.
• To delete your cloud data, sign out and contact us at the email above requesting account deletion, and we will remove your stored profile and parental-control settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Zenlix includes parental-control features intended to be configured by a parent or guardian. The app is not directed at children for data-collection purposes and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only account that can sign in is the parent/guardian's Google account.

8. Data Security

• Parental-control PINs are stored using a salted hash, never in plain text.
• Cloud data is stored in Google Firebase, protected by Google's security infrastructure and access rules.
• Local data is stored in your device's private app storage.

No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email listed below.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Zenlix after changes means you accept the revised policy.
